The Environmental Health degree at the IBU in Gara-Adag prepares future scientists and environmentalists who will nourish the environmental recovery in Somaliland. Nowadays, the growing consumerism and urbanization trends have pushed the country over the edge, making it vulnerable to climate change, and climatic shocks including long droughts, floods, and unpredictable rains. Furthermore, persistent environmental degradation activities, the underestimation of future climatic shocks, and the lack of awareness have been the main motives behind offering the Environmental Science program at IBU to mitigate future environmental catastrophes and protect what is left of nature. This program aims to prepare future leaders who will stand for environmental justice and recovery in the region. It will equip future environmentalists with the required knowledge, tools, and training to practice environmentalism and sustainability.
